Typed form on 5 cards form. 33x20.3 cm. In the heading the title of the document: "Memorandum of Agreement". Zdzislaw Najder, at that time a lecturer at Columbia University in New York, undertakes to deliver the finished text of the book (about 90,000 characters) by April 15, 1967 and to cover the costs of its publication. The document specifies the amount of the print run, the method of proofreading, remuneration to the author (dependent on the number of pieces sold), the number of author's pieces (6), the terms of possible reprinting, and copyright to the text. On the last page, signatures of John Brown, owner of the publishing house, Zdzislaw Najder, author, and P. R. Newman of Oxford University Press, as a witness. Attached is a typed letter from the publisher informing of the sending of this agreement and five typed letters from the publisher regarding the book (15 II-27 IV 1966). The agreement never materialized - the book "Faulkner, Conrad, and the Aristocratic Heritage" never appeared. Good condition.

Najder (1930-2021) - literary historian, professor of humanities, lecturer at Columbia University and Yale University, among others, oppositionist during the People's Republic of Poland, founder of the Polish Independence Alliance, 1982-1987 director of the Polish Broadcasting Station of Radio Free Europe.
