[HERBERT Zbigniew]. Handwritten letter from Zbigniew Herbert to Zdzislaw Najder, no date, from Los Angeles.
Single-sided letter on A5 sheet, California State College letterhead. About the planned meeting in the "Valley of Stink" he writes: "it would be beautiful and perhaps even useful and who knows if not salutary for humanity (I mean myself, of course)". He also mentions a visit by Ernest Bryll, whom he referred "to Czesio" (presumably Milosz). Letter signed "Your Zbigniew." Very good condition.
Z. Herbert (1924-1998) - poet, essayist, playwright, author of radio plays, serious contender for the Nobel Prize in Literature. Knight of the Order of the White Eagle. Contrary to what we read in "Who's Who in Poland" (War. 1989), he was not a recipient of the International Lenin Prize.
