[CZERWONE GITARS - concerts in Cuba]. Collection of materials relating to the tour of the Red Guitars (Las Guitarras Rojas) held from 16 II to 13 III 1978 in Cuba.
The documents come from the archives of the band's supervisor on behalf of the Polish Artistic Agency Pagart. Participating in the trip were: Bernard Dornowski, Seweryn Krajewski, Jacek Łoziński (band manager), Jan Pospieszalski, Jerzy Skrzypczyk. The group's acoustician Zbigniew Lukaszewicz did not go due to family reasons. The band gave 13 contracted concerts (including two for Cuban television) and two additional concerts: on the occasion of Women's Day for employees of the Polish People's Republic Embassy and representatives of the diplomatic corps of socialist countries, and a performance for the 1978 Cuba Youth Festival. The two concerts mentioned here commented in the report: "This concert [at the embassy] was evaluated very positively and turned into a party that lasted until late at night," "After the concert [at the festival] there was a great meeting of Cuban youth activists with the band and it lasted until late at night." The collection contains, among other things:
1. certificate (in Polish and Spanish) issued by the Ministry of Culture and the Arts for the export of souvenirs from Poland to the staff of the Polish embassy in Havana and the Cuban Ministry of Culture, dated. 14 II 1978 in Warsaw
2. advertising materials (photos, folders)
3. named airline tickets for each member of the team to fly on the route: Warsaw, Madrid, Havana, Madrid, Warsaw and stubs of baggage receipts
4. receipt for receipt of royalties for 13 concerts - collected on behalf of the entire ensemble by Jacek Lozinski
5. typed (in 2 copies) "Report on the stay in Cuba of the band 'Czerwone Gitary'". (4 sheets of A4 format)
6. typewritten letter in Spanish thanking the band for their free performance at the Youth Festival dated. 10 III 1978 in Matanzas
7. piece of Cuban magazine "Bohemia" with a short text about the band's concerts.
The author of the report evaluates the group's tour as very successful, despite some shortcomings on the part of the organizers and the carrier (luggage arrived several days late, one of the amplifiers went missing). The summary reads: "The 'Red Guitars' band [...] showed great discipline and camaraderie. There was a good atmosphere in the band at all times, undisturbed by arduous night travel." Only one member of the ansambl "proved to be very chimerical, as he demanded to be sent back from the tour to Havana during a three-day cold and was undecided to the end whether he would perform or not." Objects in good to very good condition.
