She was born in Vilnius. She began her artistic studies at the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Wroclaw. She received her diploma from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw at the Faculty of Graphic Arts in the studio of Tadeusz Kulisiewicz. She graduated from the conservation department of the same academy in 1958 under the direction of Bonawentura Lenart.
The artist was extremely active, exhibiting her works in many exhibitions around the world, including Germany, Denmark, Norway, Belgium, Sweden, France.
The exhibited works were highly regarded, as evidenced by many awards:
Second Prize in the Textile Division - XXX Years of Victory over Fascism - 1975
Gold Medal at the XII International Contemporary Art Competition in Paris - 1980
The plastic disciplines in which Maria Brzezinska worked were painting, drawing, graphic design and artistic textiles.
