Biography
Graduate of the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Łódź (1974-1980), where he received a diploma from the Department of Industrial Design in the Tapestry and Carpet Studio of Prof. Antoni Starczewski. Associated with the Technical University of Lodz since 1997. Currently heads the Studio of Textile Architecture at the Institute of Textile Architecture. From 1994 to 2008, he led the Studio of Artistic Textiles at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk, and since 2008 he has been a full professor at the Wladyslaw Strzeminski Academy of Fine Arts in Lodz, where he heads the 3rd Studio of Textile Printing at the Faculty of Textiles and Clothing. In 1991-99, he edited and published the quarterly "Text and Textil - the art of fiber" and currently collaborates with "Fibres & Textiles in Eastern Europe." His main area of interest is artistic textiles, in which he focuses on tracing the possibilities of obtaining means of artistic expression in unconventional warp arrangements and special relations of fabric and light. The artist's works have been presented at numerous exhibitions at home and abroad.
