The work was created as a decoration for the interior of the plane on which Pope John Paul II was returning from his second pilgrimage to Poland.
Biography
The artist studied in 1945-50 at the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Cracow and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. She received her diploma in 1952 in the studio of textiles at the Faculty of Interior Design, under the direction of Professor Eleonora Plutyńska.
In 1952-57 she worked at the Institute of Industrial Design in Warsaw, developing her interest in architectural space. She created more than fifty monumental textiles for public buildings - theaters, philharmonics, banks, hotels; she also designed designs for short-run production. She has been involved in research and popularization of fabric knowledge in the pages of specialized periodicals. She has participated in prestigious shows and exhibitions, including the International Biennale of Textiles in Lausanne, the International Triennale of Textiles in Lodz, the Sao Paulo Biennale, the Frankfurt Quadriennale, the Milan Triennale of Applied Art and the MoMA in New York.
