Poland, 1st quarter of 20th century.
Pair of candlesticks supported on four acanthus legs and feet, square in plan, multi-divided, exalted, with baluster stems ending in vase-shaped sleeves and plate-shaped pinnacles edged with pearlwork; all decorated with stylized acanthus and buttons.
The plating company, founded at the end of the 19th century by Andrzej Stępkowski and operating until World War II, characterized its products with a negatively beaten signature, written in majuscule "A. Stępkowski / plater / KP. 1732".
In 1967, a descendant of the founder launched a workshop in Milanowek near Warsaw under the name "Wyroby Artystyczne A. Stępkowski" adopting the signature of his ancestor.
