Biography
He was the brother of painter Bronislawa Rychter-Janowska and husband of playwright Gabriela Zapolska (1901-10). In 1882-86 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow with J. Jablonski, F. Szynalewski and W. Luszczkiewicz. From 1887 to 1890 he continued his studies at the Munich academy under J. C. Herterich and A. Liezen-Mayer. In 1912 he became a professor at the Free Academy of Art in Lviv. His first exhibition was held in 1886 at TPSP in Krakow. He painted landscapes, portraits, genre and hunting scenes, and made many drawings and watercolors of military subjects during his service in the Legions.
