Stanislav Eleshkevich (Chutovo near Poltava 1900 - Paris 1963) - painter, draughtsman, designer of mosaics and stained glass windows - studied at the School of Fine Arts in Mirgorod since 1914. In 1918 he joined the army, and, seriously wounded, was hospitalized for six months. From 1919 to 1921 he studied at the School of Fine Arts in Athens. Then he was in Naples and Rome, and in 1923 he settled permanently in Paris and exhibited many times in Parisian galleries. He painted in oil, gouache and tempera, and enjoyed using pastels. He created expressive genre scenes, portraits and landscapes. Many of his works are in private collections in Paris and the United States.
