Désiré Thomassin-Renardt (Vienna 1858 - Munich 1933) - Austrian painter and composer; son of a high official at the court of the Duke of Parma, From 1877 to 1881 he was educated at the Royal Music School in Munich, where he was a pupil of Gabriel Reichenberger and Max Hieber, and later - until 1883 - worked as a music teacher. He then studied painting at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts under Wilhelm Diez. As a painter, he was a realist. He painted genre scenes and landscapes - rural, winter, forest, seaside - enlivened with staffage - figures of hunters, hikers, fishermen.
