Very good condition. Hannah Szenes (1921 - 1944) - Hungarian poet of Jewish origin. Daughter of a writer and journalist. She was a paratrooper trained to rescue Hungarian Jews who were about to be deported to the German extermination camp in Auschwitz. Szenes was apprehended at the Hungarian border and then imprisoned and tortured, but did not reveal information about her mission, for which she was tried and then executed on November 7, 1944. Thanks to her attitude, she was declared a national heroine of Israel, where her poetry is widely known. The Board of Directors of the Zionist Youth Movement Israel Hatzeira, a kibbutz and several streets are named after her. 9080/46
