Jan Stokfisz Delarue was born in 1950 and studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun in 1969-72, and 1972-74 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznan. For several years he worked at the university.
In 1977 he traveled to France to visit friends and immediately fell in love with Paris so much that he already knew he couldn't live anywhere else. He moved to France. Starting on the streets of Montmartre and making his waythrough prestigious Parisian galleries, Stokfisz Delarue reached the collections of countless museums and private collections with his work. Since 2007, he has lived and worked in Katowice and the south of France.
His nickname can be translated as a combination of his last name and the words de la rue (from the street).
His works have been exhibited in France, England and the USA, among others. Works are in private and public collections, including the Museum of Contemporary Art of the City of Paris, Dal Fiume Dante in Bologna, collections of the Kennedy, Chaplin, J.M. Jarre, von Thurn und Taxis, Clinton families.
