Jacek RYKAŁA
b. 1950 Sosnowiec
In 1976 he graduated from the Faculty of Graphics of the Cracow branch of the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice, where he is currently a professor and runs a studio of painting and drawing. J. Rykała's collage compositions are counted among the so-called "magical photorealism". He incorporates material objects such as window frames, pieces of doors, boards, old photographs and the like into his paintings. Most of his works consist of two parts: one represents an oil painting of a specific reality, the other is a collage composed of objects that are traces of this reality. He created the series "Benches", Landscapes", "Gates", "Windows", "Backyards", "Whispers of the Sielce district", "Srodula lights", "Residences".
