The world-famous Polish sculptor was an artist whose art found recognition and a place in Polish and foreign museums, as well as in public space. Giant heads, fragments of bodies, often cracked, incomplete, stand out strongly in cities such as Paris, Rome, Krakow and London. The artist was inspired by the culture and mythology of the Greeks and Romans. However, the beauty depicted by Mitoraj is not perfect. Consciously introduced into the structure of the sculptures cracks or damages, draw attention to the fragility of the ideal and its apparentness in the real world. Representations of the male torso in ancient art were common. Admiration for the body, perfect proportion was one of the markers of the era. Mitoraj, referring to this canon, created a contemporary version of the popular motif.
