hallmarked silver ca. 800 (hallmark of the assay office with the head of Diana in a clover with sample 3 and letter A, goldsmith's monogram FR - in a square), partial gilding, nautilus shell; height 52 cm, foot diameter 16.5 cm; weight 2078 g.
Vienna, 4th quarter of 19th century.
On a round, exalted foot, passing into a domed, spirally cannelled one, with a shaft in the form of a gilded full-plastic figure of a triton - half man, half fish, with a naked torso, with a wreath of vines on his head, with a long beard, supporting a nautilus shell with his right hand; the shell decorated on the long axis with gilded masquerade masks and a fish on top.
