Silver from the excellent goldsmiths of Hannau, the Dingeldein brothers' manufactory considered one of the finest goldsmiths of 19th century Europe.
An exquisite historical product typical of the Hannau manufacturing manner fond of historicism, often associated with Poland of the 16th-17th centuries or Saxony. In the present case, we are dealing with an uncommon product reminiscent of the coronation of Augustus III of Saxony and Maria Josepha Habsburg as King and Queen of Poland in Cracow on January 17, 1734. It can be assumed that this platter was made to Polish order perhaps to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the event in 1884, when the manufactory had already gained international recognition.
Centrally, the sublime platter, decorated with repoussed images of fruit, features two interlocking medallions depicting the figures of August III and Mary Joseph, along with surrounding legends: AVGVSTVS-III-DEI-GRAT-REX-POL-MAG-DVX-LITH-ELEC-SACHSONIA- MARIA-JOSEPHA-DEI-GRAT-POL-REG-MAG-DVC-LITH-ELEC-SACHSONIA-; In addition, the birth dates of both Kingdom nat. 7.Oct.1696 and nat. 8.Dez.1699.; Moreover, the medallions are decorated with a finial in the form of family crests and royal regalia at the bottom.
Additionally decorated with Austro-Hungarian import punch from 1901-1922.
Preservation condition of the item very good.
Definitely a museum-worthy item.
