Oval tray, with a mirrored panel framed in a silver molded frame decorated with two strips of pearlwork and symmetrically arranged acanthus leaves. Wooden bottom with four ball-shaped legs.
The jardiniere is oval, profiled, with a wavy top edge, raised on the long axis, edged with a band of pearling and acanthus leaves, on the longer sides decorated with laurel garlands and medallions, in one of them engraved the municipal coat of arms of Sedan (Ardennes) in a cartouche under the corona muralis with a motto. Gilded insert, plain, of irregular design.
A pair of candlesticks on circular, upturned feet decorated with a band of pearls and acanthus leaves, passing into short stems, topped with potpourri in the form of bowls decorated with a motif of laurel garlands and pearling, with openwork lids. On the sides of the stems set two sigmoid arms of candlesticks decorated with acanthus and cannelures, ending with plates and vase-shaped sleeves for candles.
The founder of the firm (probably in 1849) was Eugene Doutre Roussel (1824-1884), under whom Claude apprenticed. After his father's death, he took over the workshop.
