LELEWEL Joachim. 3 co-bound volumes (complete) of 8o scholarly treatise: vol. I pp. XXIII and 229, vol. II p. 126, vol. III p. 331; also atlas with images of coins in 4o: pp. 44 and 24 plates. Very attractive binding, period quarter leather and marbled paper; slight loss of leather on the spine of the co-bound volumes, otherwise near cabinet condition; EXTREMELY RARE due to the completeness of the publication - all three volumes of the treatise and the atlas being an integral part of it. In essence, this is a textbook on European numismatics of the Middle Ages. One is amazed by the state of Lelewel's knowledge and the research methods he used, including comparing portraits on coins. This allowed him to identify them very well. In vol. II on Polish coins: pp. 65-116, in the atlas on plate XXIV.
