Antoni Gramatyka (1841-1922) was associated with Krakow, he began his studies in painting at the School of Fine Arts there under Wł. Łuszczkiewicz and J. Matejko. He then studied at the Vienna academy, and then again in Cracow. He exhibited his paintings mainly at the TPSP in Krakow and Lviv and at the TZSP in Warsaw. He was a realist painter. In addition to genre scenes of rural and urban life, portraits, historical and religious paintings, he painted many landscapes from the vicinity of Krakow, Kalwaria Zebrzydowska, Zywiec, Podhale and Spisz.
