Arnold Goldstein was interested in Indian culture and art from an early age. He was a respected sculptor, but also a designer. In 1968, he met Ralph Lauren, unknown to the general public at the time - their collaboration lasted for decades to come, and Goldstein created for the brand, among other things, collections of bolo belts and ties, inspired by Indian art. Goldstein's work continually features motifs inspired by Native American art and local fauna (e.g., buffalo, horses).
