18th century reliquary of Saint Benedict of Nursia.

Saint Benedict was born around 480 in Nursia and died on March 21, 547 in Monte Cassino. He was the author of the Benedictine Rule. He is considered the spiritual father of all Western monks. His liturgical feast is celebrated in the Catholic, Anglican and Evangelical Churches on July 11 to commemorate the transfer of his relics from Monte Cassino to Fleury Abbey (July 11, 673).
The reliquary is in the form of a display case.Placed in a thick decorated frame measuring 33 x 30 x 4 cm.The frame is gilded and decorated with floral motifs.The width is 6 cm.Inside is a glass protected reliquary. In the central part is placed a gouache with the image of Saint Benedict. This is informed by the relevant inscription below: S.Benedictus. The whole is surrounded by a decorative composition, made of fabric ribbons enriched with filigree and precious stones.In the decoration are incorporated banderole with the names of the saints, whose relics are in the reliquary. Access to the reliquary is at the back. Secured with paper tapes, and three lacquer seals with seal imprint.
