painted wood; 26 cm
Signed on the bottom with a marker: Zbigniew Łabuda / Kielce 2016
He has been sculpting in wood since 1983, representations of sacred and secular themes. Depending on the content depicted, the sculptural forms function as single realizations or multi-figure compositions (several figures mounted to a common base). The sculptures have a smooth, polished surface and colorful polychrome. The artist uses color with great freedom, which calms and exudes warmth even in dramatic scenes. Among the realizations we find roadside shrines with the image of the Madonna, the Sorrowful One, representations of patron saints, Christmas Cribs decorated with Angels, Birds.
Works in collections: National Museum in Kielce, Regional Chamber of WDK in Kielce.
