This is again the Author's way of relating to the human figure. Characteristic of these works is

representation of the body in an incomplete, unfinished, implicit shape. This approach leaves

the viewer the opportunity to inquire, to guess, to define for himself the form and meaning of the observed

object. Involving the viewer in the process of creative perception characterizes the phenomenon of open form, which the

the author has used on many occasions.

About the Artist :

Władysław Klamerus ( born 13.01.1956 in Zakopane - died 14.07.1992 in Warsaw) sculptor, stage designer, performer, educator, one of the most interesting independent artists of the 1980s and early 1990s. Being a particularly original, conscious and superbly educated artist, he earned his place in the history of Polish art.

He graduated from the Antoni Kenar High School of Fine Arts in Zakopane and studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, in the sculpture department under Prof. Jerzy Jarnuszkiewicz and in the Ateliers: Experimental Textile with Prof. Wojciech Sadley and Visual Structures with Prof. Oskar Hansen. After receiving his diploma in 1983, he continued to create for only nine more years, until his death at the age of 36.

He is the author of bronze, stone and wood sculptures, textiles and tapestries, drawings, watercolors on mountain themes, assemblages, theatrical scenery for the plays of the Kana theater. In 1988, he co-created the memorial on Umschlagplaz, followed by other memorial realizations.

Until 1989, he does not participate in official, state-sponsored artistic life in Poland, but takes part in group exhibitions, including the "Presence" series at Zytnia Street and the Archdiocese Museum. He holds his solo exhibitions regularly at the French Institute.

Since 1985 he has been associated with Paris. There, in 1986, he obtains a certificate to practice as an artist in France and there are regular exhibitions of his sculptures, textiles and compositions. In 1987, thanks to meeting Jozef Czapski and the support he gave the young artist, he receives a scholarship.

In 1990, a documentary film about the artist is made, directed by Hanna Kramarczuk (for TVP).

After his sudden death due to illness, there were many exhibitions of Klamerus' work co-organized by the foundation named after him. www.klamerus.eu
