The creator's idea was to create Neptune's Trident, which will be made from raw materials obtained from the
Baltic beach. So as to emphasize the relationship of the author with the Tri-City and the sea.
The blade was created from magnetite contained in beach sand. Magnetite is a rich iron ore. With
With the help of a powerful magnet, 50 kg of ore was obtained. The content of magnetite in Baltic sand is
extremely low, also it took a week to collect the right amount.
The ore was reduced/melted to extract iron/steel. For this purpose, Patryk Pawlik Kaminari
built a Japanese-style furnace - a tartare. The smelting was divided into 5 parts. From each was extracted approx.
5 kg spoils. 350kg of charcoal was used for smelting.
The loot was cut repeatedly to get rid of impurities. The individual pieces were cut together into
larger "cakes" and these into even larger bundles.
Once enough steel was forged, a trident shape was cut and then, using files,
belt grinder and sandpaper, the author gave it its final shape.
In order to obtain a suitable surface, the object was etched in acids, then
coppered and patinated, to get a beautiful green-blue patina. The whole piece was covered with
varnish to protect the trident from corrosion.
It also had to include Baltic amber. Two beautiful pieces of top-quality yantar were
framed by Tomasz Oldziejewski, a well-known amber master.
The entire piece is 195 cm long.
The creation of the trident was documented in the TV series "Gold of the Baltic".
