Sylwester Ambroziak studied from 1983 to 1989 at the Department of Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw under Professors Jerzy Jarnuszkiewicz, Stanisław Kulon and Grzegorz Kowalski. He defended his diploma under the direction of the latter, the main part of which was the figural group "The Temptation of St. Anthony" in 1989. In 1990-1992 he realized a triptych of monumental bronze sculptures entitled "The Polish Rider. "The Horseman of Poland." In 1993-1994, he was a grantee of the Culture Foundation. He made his debut while still a student, presenting actions and sculptures in Dziekanka and at the Academy of Fine Arts several times before his graduation. These works were part of the New Expressionist current in the art of the young. Also in his later work, the artist represents a style based on expressionist means of expression: simplification and brutalization or deformation of shapes, exaggeration of details and proportions, in wood carving - the introduction of sharp polychrome. The expression of his sculptures was also influenced by folk and primitive art, including the characteristic formal features of African figures and masks. The artist eagerly takes up antique motifs and themes, giving them in a completely non-classical form. His second favorite motifs are biblical and Christian themes, often subjected - starting with a drastic diploma - to interpretations and updates far from the canon and doctrine. Ambroziak's work, , early recognized and appreciated, has been repeatedly shown in exhibitions, notable among which are joint presentations with Expressionist painter Eugeniusz Markowski. Associated since 1990 with the NOTORO Foundation (sponsor of the aforementioned "Polish Rider" series), he participated in exhibitions and symposia organized by it. He often exhibited abroad, especially in Germany. His works were also presented at review or problem-based exhibitions of Polish art, such as: "Artistic Confrontations Toruń´91", "Around Polish Sculpture of the 1970s and 1980s", Orońsko 1995, "Figure in Polish Sculpture of the 19th and 20th Centuries", Orońsko-Warsaw 1998-1999, "War in Man", Orońsko 2001.
