The sculpture (according to the bidder's message) was designed as a gift for the first commander of the Polish "School of Eaglets" - Wyższa Szkoła Oficerska Lotnictwa in Deblin (originally in Grudziądz) - Colonel Roman Florer.
The pictured aircraft is a sporty Yackey Monoplane, designed by American pilot and designer Wilfred Yackey (1890-1927).
Signature on the back: " S. Popowski" and date "1927".
Stefan Popowski was a highly regarded landscape painter and draftsman; he was also an author of architectural designs, and occasionally small sculptural forms.
