Majid Jammoul
Born 1948 - Rimat Hazem - Syria
Education:
1964-1968 Studied art ( painting , graphics, sculpture) at the Fine Arts Center in Damascus.
1969-1975 Studied sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw in the studios of Professors S. Kulon and T. Łodziany, Z. Demkowska and O. Hansen,
1975 Diploma with honors in sculpture.
1975-1981 Lecturer in the Department of Sculpture at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Damascus University.
1981-1990 Director of the Adham Ismail Fine Arts Center in Damascus.
1987 D.A.A.D. scholarship (academic exchange) in Germany.
Member of the Association of Fine Arts in Syria. Union of Polish Artists ZPAP, International Federation of Medalists" FIDEM."
Awards:
1968 First prize in sculpture at the Exhibition of Works by Students of Damascus University.
1971 First prize in sculpture at the First All-Poland Exhibition of Works by Foreign Students of Higher Schools of Fine Arts in Poland.
1972 Second prize in sculpture at the Second National Exhibition of Works by Foreign Students of Higher Schools of Fine Arts in Poland.
1976 First prize for the design of a monument to the fallen in Syria.
1977 First prize in a competition to design a bas-relief for the Central Cemetery of Martyrdom in Najha- Syria. Realization of the 18×2 meter bas-relief 1979.
1980 Second prize in the competition for the Monument to the Unknown Soldier in Damascus-Syria.
1996 First prize in the competition for the Monument to the Fallen in Jaraman, Syria. Implementation of the monument 1998-2000 11.30 mx 9.60m x 8m.
