Krzysztof Sliwka b. 1965 in Rymanow
He became interested in wood carving at the age of 14. He graduated from the Secondary School of Fine Arts
in Miejsce Piastowe near Krosno. His teachers in sculpture were Wladyslaw Kandefer (student of Xawery Dunikowski ),Bogdan Biernat, Roman Gorka. In 1985-97 he worked as a tutor at the Children's Holiday Home in Rymanow Zdroj. Since 1997 he has been professionally engaged in wood sculpture, ceramics, casting and painting. He is particularly interested in sacred themes, portraits and landscapes. Inspirations, ideas arise from contact with nature, landscape, man, tradition, history. In some works there are apocalyptic, surrealist elements. In wood sculpture, he uses various techniques, including tanning, gluing from small elements, various types of wood (linden, larch, ash, oak). In painting, he uses his own technique, which enhances the texture (impasto is applied on a stiff base, which is later patinated, painted in oil or acrylic). He also makes casting models (cooperation with glassworks-Deco Glass Krosno, Sabina Rymanow, Porcelain Factory Ćmielów, metal founders).
