Jan Tutaj's works balance on the border between traditional sculpture and object. The artist uses a variety of techniques and creates from wood, metal, concrete, glass, paper and fabricated elements. His sculptures usually have a geometrizing, often sparing form with symbolic meaning.
"At the core of my artistic search is the conviction of the complexity of understanding felt and imagined space, reality perceived sensorially and at the same time experienced, processed and redefined with the language of art. What seems obvious and inexorable to the sculptor: three-dimensionality, weight, matter, multi-vector tensions, relations of masses, etc., faces a layer of subjective cultural codes, phenomena mediated through the fluidity of life. The space of sculpture in the physical sense, with all its belonging features, comes into contact with the imagined and envisioned."
