18th century Italian reliquary with relics of numerous saints.
Dimensions: 40 x 17.5 x 5.5 cm. Material: polychrome wood, fabric, filigree.
The box is made in the form of a showcase placed in the central part of the reliquary, surrounded by figures of angels. The vitrine is glazed. In it are the remains of 30 saints. The relics are placed on a fabric decorated with filigree. Each wrapped with a banderole with the name of the saint. Unfortunately, the main part of the inscriptions is curled up, making it difficult to read . The wood is polychromed in gold and carved, with a maroon clay undercoat peeking through from underneath the small abrasions of the polychrome. Reverse protected by black cloth, edges sealed with paper to prevent access to the contents. The whole was secured with lacquer seals, guaranteeing the originality of the object.
