Indo-Portuguese ivory Crucifix - Goa, 17th century

carved elephant ivory (Elephas maximus Linnaeus, 1758 or Loxodonta africana Blumenbach, 1797) “Corpus Christi”. finely carved in full round, the dead Christ depicted with red polychromed stigmata, sidewound and crown of thorns, draped perizonium.
