18th century statue of the Virgin Mary with Child.
Polychrome wood. Height 38,5 cm.
The figure in the type of representation of the Virgin Mary with the Child as a hodegetria, that is, Mary shown frontally. On her left shoulder she holds Christ. Christ raises his right hand in a gesture of blessing. In his left hand he holds a globe.There is no proximity between the figures, both are looking straight ahead, The figure is made of a single piece of polychrome wood. Polychrome preserved almost completely. Attention is drawn to the dark color of the skin of the figures. Mother of God is missing her right forearm, but this is an old defect. The whole piece is preserved in good condition.
