Lot description
Estimations: 2 500 - 4 000 EUR
Bronze with coating. 28 x 8,5 x 8,5 cm with column base; 10 x 7 x 5 cm just the statue

This exquisite bronze statuette reiterates a famous design by Giambologna, preserved in the Bargello of Florence.
Some historians (Kneuter) believe this kind of compositions to be based on drafts elaborated by the artist during his Roman period, made of wax or clay, then casted in bronze in Florence.

The statue's antique features could point to a seventeenth-eighteenth century source, but, as with all the other Giambologna-inspired models, it is best to remain cautious when it comes to dating.
