BRONISLAW CHROMY
The artist's oeuvre includes dozens of large sculptural realizations, which appeared almost every year in cities across Poland from the early 1970s to the 1990s. Chromy also made hundreds of medals and statuettes. His works can be found in many Polish museums and in foreign museums, including Ravenna, Oslo, Skopje, Bochum, Arezzo, Helsinki, Paris, New York, Madrid, Moscow and Barcelona. Chromy's sculptures are in the collections of private collectors around the world.Among the most famous monuments he created for Krakow are: The Wawel Dragon at the foot of the Wawel Castle, the Fountain of the Players in Wolnica Square, the Sheep in the square in front of the Agricultural Academy, and the statue of the dog Dżok, which stands on Czerwieński Boulevard and has become a symbol of canine fidelity.
In 1956, he co-founded the Piwnica pod Baranami cabaret.
Recipient of dozens of awards for creative achievements and a number of state designations, including the Gold Medal for Merit to Culture Gloria Artis, which he received in 2009. For his services to Krakow, he was awarded the Bronze Medal Cracoviae Merenti.
