The works are from the series: "Theater of Characters". All made of semi-precious metals, i.e. brass and newly silvered sheet 0,4 -0,5 mm thick and decorated with enamel: baked ("Cleopatra"), or two-component cold laid on large surfaces ("Rita H."). The weight of these objects varies between 2-4 kg.

BARBARA MUNZER - graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Lodz, designer of jewelry and costumes. She has worked for film, TV and Fashion Houses. Her works have been exhibited in individual and group exhibitions and fashion shows. For many years Barbara Munzer has been creating large decorative forms in metal, insect visions and robes. She has shown these unique silver and gold sculptures under the common title "Character Theater" in Warsaw, Amsterdam, Lodz, Plock, The Hague, Bochum, Borken, Krakow. Barbara Munzer's works are in the Secession Museum in Plock and with private collectors at home and abroad. They can be viewed and purchased at the "Bellotto" gallery at 79 Krakowskie Przedmieście Street and the "Apollon" gallery at 4 Rokosowska Street in Warsaw, as well as at the "Ewa Walinska Galerie" Kerkstraat 46 in Arnhem.

SUGGESTIVE WORLD OF BARBARA MUNZER'S IMAGINATION

"...The matter of all these works of an eminently decorative nature seems unconventional. It is mainly metal, gold-shiny brass and gray-silver alpaca supplemented by colorful elements of glass, enamel and ceramics. At the same time the constructions are characterized by considerable lightness due to numerous openwork, mostly made of metal nets of various types. Overall, the objects give the impression of monumentalized jewelry forms. This reference to women's ornaments is justified. After all, the artist began her creative path after studying at the then Higher School of Fine Arts in Lodz (now the Academy) in this fine art field. Soon she turned her passions towards larger compositions, remaining, however, in a similar circle of artistic thinking and use of material.

How far Barbara Munzer's dragonflies and butterflies correspond to the jewelry tradition and symbolism and how far they are independent artistic creations arising in her imagination remains a matter of individual interpretation for each viewer. Certainly they belong to the world of mysterious gardens, where they can exist as enchanted figures, which may be indicated by the titles given to them by the Artist - names or first and last names, for example, "Sarah Bernhardt", "Lucrezia Borgia", "Cassanova" and others.

Robes quite monumental in their assumptions, the Author treats them decidedly planar, giving them rather simple contour outlines not always subordinated to the axis of symmetry. Built from geometric or geometrizing elements using rectangles, squares, rhombuses, circular and triangular forms of various sizes, they are undoubtedly a reminiscence of the decorative art of the interwar years characterized by refinement, serene beauty and exquisiteness. The basic material of the robes remains, as in the previous series, metal, but more exposed, since it is used in larger quantities of elements of repoussed sheet metal, although balanced by openwork made most often also of metal nets of various types or decoratively arranged wire. Color is also introduced as in dragonflies and butterflies through the use of colored enamel, glass "eyes" and ceramic details.

Thus, thanks to Barbara Munzer's work, one can immerse oneself in the atmosphere of mysterious gardens full of huge, flying dragonflies and butterflies, as well as have an unexpected encounter with the personified robes of the great known and unknown,"
