The equestrian statue of the famous condottieri Bartolomeo Colleoni (1400-1475), by Andrea del Verrocchio (1435-1488), is one of the most famous works of sculptural art of all time. The original (height 395 cm) is located in Venice. Made between 1479 and 1488, it was cast only after Verrocchio's death in 1496.
In the 19th and 1st quarters of the 20th century, bronzemaking flourished, while the fashion for decorative bronzes spread across Europe. Among the most popular compositions were reductions of famous sculptures. Once an integral part of the decoration of living rooms and cabinets, they are now among the most popular figures among collectors.
Andrea del Verrocchio, owned by Andrea di Michele di Francesco de' Cioni (Florence 1435- Venice1488) - Italian sculptor, painter and goldsmith, representative of the Florentine quattrocento.
