Adam KARNIEWSKI
1876 Wloclawek - 1938 Warsaw
Sculptor father of painter Stanislaw. He lived in Minsk Litewski until 1914. Since 1892 he exhibited regularly in Warsaw's Zachęta Gallery and also in the Krywult Salon and in 1926 in the salon of the Artists' Association in Poznań. In the same year he worked on the restoration of the sculptures of the Warsaw Cathedral. He mainly created portraits and characteristic busts, less frequently figural compositions, nudes and occasionally animalism. He was also involved in religious sculpture, including the decoration of St. Florian's Church in Praga. He worked in a classical-realist style close to the middle phase of August Zamoyski's work.
