Biography
In 1937-39 and 1941-42, the artist studied at the Institute of Fine Arts in Lviv. After the war, he continued his studies at the State Higher School of Visual Arts in Sopot. In 1949-50 he worked there as an assistant. In 1954, he received a diploma from the Department of Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw and began working at the university. In 1966-69, 1972-78 he was Dean of the Faculty of Sculpture. In 1968-72 he served as pro-rector. In 1989 he was awarded the title of full professor. He created monumental monuments, outdoor sculpture, intimate sculpture and portraits. He was the author of many monuments including: Mausoleum at Pawiak in Warsaw, Victims of Fascism in Radogoszcz, Marshal Jozef Pilsudski in Warsaw. In 1981, he won the Grand Prix at the International Biennale of Sculpture in Monaco for his sculpture "Open II."
