Marta Sucherska - born in 1995 in Gdansk, Poland. Sculptor and visual artist. Graduate of the Department of Sculpture at the Magdalena Abakanowicz University of Arts in Poznan where she defended her master's degree with honors in 2020. She has participated in and co-organized many group exhibitions. She is also the author of several solo exhibitions.
She looks for inspiration in everyday life, nature or architecture of the communist era, among others. One of the motifs often used by the artist is the self-portrait, which takes various forms, from photography to conceptual sculptures. The material most often used by the artist is plaster. Using the author's technique of coloring gypsum in the mass, she realizes spatial forms, as well as bas-reliefs. The first of the sculptures made using this technique was titled "Tininess." It refers to the aspect of haptics, which comes to the fore in these works. Subsequent reliefs, with their often organic form and rich colors, the author called "Islands." The artist's current work focuses on activities related to a kind of recycling. The starting point of her latest realizations are object-furniture, which, completely devoid of their original functions, do not resemble their utilitarian form. In the sculptures of the series "Arrangement of Repetitive Modules," she combines remnants of furniture together with stained, plaster forms.
