Bronislaw Chromy (1925 - 2017) - sculptor, medalist, painter, draughtsman,
Professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, member of the Polish Academy of
Skills. After graduating from the High School of Fine Arts, he began his studies at the
Krakow's Academy of Fine Arts. A student of Xawery Dunikowski.
In his work Bronislaw Chromy takes up a wide range of subjects.
Notable among them are sculptures on historical and martyrological themes
(Pieta Oświęcimska, 1963), musical (Monument to Frederic Chopin, 2005),
cosmological (Copernicus, constellations and star systems) and
animalistic. Among the extraordinary sculptures and monuments that have already permanently
have grown into the Krakow landscape certainly include the Dragon of
Wawelski from the Vistula River(1969), the Fountain of the Players from Wolnica Square, the Owls from the
Planty, Sheep from the square in front of the Agricultural Academy, as well as the monument to the dog
Dżok (2001), located on the Vistula boulevards near Wawel Castle.
