The "Tears of Joy" series was born out of the artist's quest for idolized beauty and observations of nature. One rainy day, Benoît Dutour noticed the perfection of nature in the drops falling from the sky. Each takes on its own form, shaped by gravity as it travels between heaven and earth. But water is not only a beauty, but also a resource, essential to the existence of life. "Elevating this basic natural good, a symbol of life, purity and beauty, to the status of a work of art became obvious to me at the time," he says. - explains the artist. Thus, raindrops became "tears of joy" in the form of sculpted optical glass.
Benoit Dutour sinks them into objects evoking the beauty of nature, sometimes the modern world (such as bitcoin).
