Description of work:
Adam Setkowicz is known as a creator of idyllic rural genre scenes. The painter was most fond of depicting the realities of villages near Krakow. The motif of horse-drawn carriages repeatedly recurred in the compositions he created.
In the presented work, a Krakow wedding procession is depicted in the center of the pictorial field, which clearly stands out from the whiteness of the snow-covered surroundings. The narrow color range is dynamized by the colorful outfits of the amused wedding party, in which accents of red dominate. The painting is a characteristic example of this artist's winter composition, which reflects local folklore in a sincere way.
