Stanislaw Ostoja-Chrostowski an outstanding Polish graphic artist. From 1917 to 1923 he studied painting and architecture in Moscow, and then from 1923 to 1930 at the Warsaw School of Fine Arts (among others with Wladyslaw Skoczylas), he received his diploma with a specialization in graphic design in 1934. Already with his first works from 1924 he gained a high position, later he won numerous national and foreign awards, he was a member of the Rytu and the Circle of Advertising Graphic Artists, in 1937 he took over the Chair of Artistic Graphic Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, then became its professor, and in 1945 its rector. He practiced fine art printmaking, mainly woodcuts.
