Biography
Studied under Wojciech Gerson at the Drawing School in Warsaw. In 1896-1900, he continued his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow under Jacek Malczewski and Teodor Axentowicz. In 1899, he supplemented his education at Stanisław Grocholski's private school of painting in Munich. After completing his studies, he spent 1903-04 in Italy. After returning from Italy, he settled in Warsaw in 1904. In addition to painting, he was involved in illustrating books and magazines. In 1910 he married Irena née Jezioranska. He wrote two novels: Dream of Life (1906) and Stella (1910), he also wrote and illustrated several children's books. After the Warsaw Uprising in 1944, he was displaced to Kamiensk, and in 1945 settled in the village of Głuchy in the manor house of Cyprian Kamil Norwid, which belonged to the Jezioranski family. He was buried in the cemetery in Niegowo.
