on the reverse, oval stamp with an inscription around it: FROM THE COLLECTION OF WORKS BY WOJCIECH WEISS. HOUSE OF THE ARTIST with facsimile of the artist in the middle;
and number 004851.
This drawing shows the harmonious beauty of the female body. In front is an ancient goddess resting. Where did this motif come from? Well, in 1927 Wojciech Weiss painted the composition "Muses" referring to the theme from mythology with an impressive size of 116 x 208 cm.
The positioning of the model in the offered drawing is very similar to the pose of the reclining Muses in the monumental oil painting. This work is a preparatory study for the composition.
