Biography
Walery Eljasz Radzikowski was a pupil of Władysław Łuszczkiewicz at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow (1856-62). Influenced by his work, he began to paint historical compositions. He continued his painting studies in Munich, where he specialized in watercolor painting in the studio of Theodor Horschett (1862-65). Radzikowski's oeuvre developed in two thematic trends - the first included historical compositions, inspired by the national past and literary fiction; the second trend included landscape painting, especially views of the Tatra Mountains.
