Kuniyoshi Utagawa (1798-1861) - Japanese painter, considered one of the last great ukiyo-e artists in woodcut and painting.
His real name was Magosaburō Igusa, and he studied under Kunisada Utagawa. He was involved in woodcuts and book illustration.
He painted landscapes, beautiful women, mythical animals, theatrical scenes and warriors. He is known for his depictions of battles of legendary samurai heroes.
