Color woodcut, paper; dimensions: 360 x 250 mm; signed: Ichiyûsai Kuniyoshi ga, type dated ca. 1848, Yoshi Kiri stamp used in latack 1844 -1861 two nanushi censor stamps used in 1847-1853. Printed during the artist's lifetime.

State of preservation: slight holes sealed on the back with paper, minor staining at the lower margin.

Utagawa Kuniyoshi (1798-1861) - Japanese painter, considered one of the last great artists of ukiyo-e in woodcut and painting. His real name was Magosaburō Igusa, and he studied under Kunisada Utagawa. He was involved in woodcuts and book illustration. He painted landscapes, beautiful women, mythical animals, theatrical scenes and warriors.
