Biography
Studied at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts in the studio of Leon Tarasewicz from 2005 to 2009. He belongs to the "new surrealists" trend. He started with painting close to the poetics of surrealism. While still a student, he begins an artistic collaboration with Paweł Śliwiński. At first a spontaneous game of painting culminated in a series of collectively painted paintings, and later sculptures created especially for the opening of the Sculpture Park in Bródno, an initiative of Pawel Althamer. He has always been close to art that is not confined within the walls of galleries, which is why, together with Rafal Dominik and Katarzyna Przezwańska, he opened Czosnek Studio - a graphic agency combining artistic and advertising activities. In the course of his artistic development, Tymek's direction changes. He is moving away from painting to graphic and film activities. In his work, he addresses issues of art and its impact in everyday life through his films "How Culture Works?" and "How Art Works?" among others. Recently, Borowski has been returning to painting, which is consistent with graphic activities. The artist produces a style characteristic of himself, which gets noticed by Empik. One of Tymek's paintings becomes a visual promoting the "Apostrof" International Literature Festival organized by empik.com. In 2015, Borowski was awarded the Polityka Passports in the Visual Arts category for his "innovative approach to art and redefining the role of the artist in contemporary society." Recent major solo exhibitions have included: "Everyone needs rules, but everyone needs others" at the Arsenal Gallery in Bialystok or "There is no such thing as art" at BWA Olsztyn.
