Toshihiro Hamano. An eminent Japanese artist born in 1937, he graduated from the Tama Academy of Fine Arts in Tokyo. He does painting, printmaking, sculpture and has also made a name for himself as a landscape designer. His work draws on the traditions of Japanese art, and his designed gardens in public spaces are undoubtedly inspired by Japanese Zen gardens. In 1994 he was awarded the Grand Prix and in 2009 the Grand Prix d'Honneur of the International Triennale of Graphic Arts in Krakow.
